Episode 2 takes a brief diversion away from actual theater stories to tell the tale of how I discovered Dungeons and Dragons and the world of role-playing games.

Show notes are behind the cut.

  • The opening music for this week’s episode is “Salty Dog” from the album Swagger by Flogging Molly.
  • “Red Box” is the term most often used to reference the original basic set of Dungeons and Dragons, and is a reference to..umm…the fact that the box was red.
  • The background music for this episode is “Pipe Dreams” by Celtic Fusion.
  • If you don’t know who He-Man and the Masters of the Universe are I feel sorry for you that there is so much awesome missing in your life.
  • Playing D&D With Porn Stars really is one of the best Dungeons and Dragons blogs I’ve stumbled across. It also has porn stars. What more could you ask for?
  • Krystalle is my other half. She kicks ass.
  • This is the Succubus illustration.
  • Crossbows and Catapults is still around, amazingly enough.
  • Jack Chick is this crazy religious guy that puts out cartoon books about how you’re going to hell. He wrote one specifically about the evils of Dungeons and Dragons called “Dark Dungeons
  • The musical interlude “He’s Going To Tell” is from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. If you didn’t know that OR who He-Man was…man…I’m so sorry.
  • The closing music for the episode was “Goodbye, Stranger” by Supertramp that I snagged from the Magnolia soundtrack.

Great Job Mike. This is a book in the making and maybe wind up on the big screen some day. Well maybe just a lap top but that is ok too,

Thanks, Mom! I am, in fact, writing these before I podcast and my eventual goal is to edit them together into a book. I’ll likely self-publish, and I don’t expect a lot of sales, but hey…it’s something, right? :)

  3. Krystalle says:

    Excellent job, hon!
